Review: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Image from Goodreads

At first when this book first came out, i didn't really take notice of it or did i start reading it. However, when it started hyping up everywhere and it even got made into a movie, i decided to see what the hype was about. After reading this first book, i was hooked. The plot was deep and the style is unique, i couldn't put it down!

The narrator of this story is Katniss Everdeen (who's also the female main character of this trilogy). It was a first person narration which makes you have a deeper connection  to the character and really understand better of what's happening and what she's going through. But one thing that i don't really like is that sometimes Katniss can be a bit slow in terms of romance and it's kinda frustrating at times haha. On the other hand, i didn't really like Peeta at the beginning because his character gave me a not so good impression at the start but now i think he's not bad actually.
The place is set in a dystopian world where it's set in the nation of Panem and there are 12/13 districts which is for the poor and the Capitol which is for the rich.
The story plot begins with the live TV show from the Capitol going to all the districts and forcing 12 boys and girls to participate in The Hunger Games and Katniss' sister got picked so she volunteered instead and the story goes on about how she tries to survive in nature as well as from the other participants.

This book contains a lot of action, romance, a bit of mystery elements and many more. Compared to other dystopian novels, i think this is the one i will never forget. I will always remember the games and uniqueness of this story.
The Hunger Games is the first of Suzanne Collins' books that i have read and i really enjoyed it so i will carry on reading more in the future. I would definitely recommend this to people of any age because it's such a easy to read novel.

  1. I agree with you that the first book is great! I'm not sure if you have read the whole trilogy yet, but I found the final book so dry I couldn't stand it and I ended up giving up halfway through! I know, shameful! I would love to hear your opinions on it!

    1. Hi Ben, yeah i totally agree with you ahah, i have finished reading the trilogy and the ending was okay but it was too unrealistic in a way that it somehow doesn't fit the series. Overall it was still amazing though, thanks for giving me your view on this book :).
